For this reason I
kneel
This week I have had a healthy
reminder of the magnitude of what God is calling us to this year - three new
mission-focuses (at Sandon Road, on Highfields and on Marston Grange); two new
locations (Marston Grange and Highfields); and one new Associate Pastor (for
Marston Grange). I pray countless
baptisms too!
How can we do what
seems impossible?
The logistical and organisational
trellis work is intimidating. The
spiritual vine and fruit we long for infinitely more intimidating and
infinitely more valuable. Ephesians 4 lays
out the task before us. How will 'the
manifold wisdom of God be made known' (v10)?
How will people 'grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love
of Christ' (v18)? How will we be 'filled
to the measure of all the fullness of God' (v19) and see God do 'immeasurably
more than we ask or imagine' (v20)?
Paul tells us very clearly - 'For
this reason we kneel before the Father...' (v14).
The undeniable, unstoppable,
all-achieving, fruit-maturing, strong-hold demolishing power of God is wielded
as we prayer.
Four Meetings for Prayer
Significantly we want to focus our attention
on praying God's life into two particular areas immediately before us - our new
Afternoon Meeting at Sandon Road (which starts on April 17th) and as we move
forward with Marston Grange. There four
crucial, life-bringing prayer gatherings over the next two weeks. I'd be thrilled if you could join me at one
(or more) of these four prayer meetings.
Praying for our Sandon Road Afternoon
Meeting, that God would use it significantly in 'reaping the harvest' from the
seeds so well sown through our mid-week activities at Sandon Road. We will be meeting at Sandon Road on Tuesday
March 1st from 8-9pm and Sunday March 6th 5-6pm.
Praying for Marston Grange and
especially for God to bless the mission from 'Beacon Church House', 19
Jefferson Way. On Friday February 26th
we formally completed and took ownership of the house. We will be meeting there on Thursday March
3rd 7.30-9pm (instead of our usual monthly church meeting) and Sunday March
13th 12.30-1.30 to pray and lay the firmest foundation for the church we pray,
hope and expect God will use for the next 100 years to reach people for
Jesus. [If you are able, please park in
the Sales' Office Car Park and walk up to Jefferson Way (the last right turn)
to avoid being an annoyance to our new neighbors!]
One day to fast
I am inviting everyone, in whatever
way is appropriate for you, to fast as a way of praying for God's feast to
come, through the day on Tuesday March 8th.
